Swimwell Partners With Indian Navy For Swimming Pool Renovation In Ghatkopar

Mumbai, 16 March 2025 - After years of persistence and groundwork, Swimwell has finally broken into the government sector with a landmark project for the Indian Navy. The company recently completed the successful renovation and upgrade of a Navy swimming pool located in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. This was Swimwell’s first official defence-sector contract.

For over five years, Swimwell had been trying to secure government contracts. The breakthrough came after the company registered on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, enabling it to participate in official tenders. The Ghatkopar project, awarded by the Indian Navy, involved critical repair work for a pool suffering from severe leakage and seepage issues.

Under the leadership of founder Aslam Shaikh, Swimwell not only delivered on the tendered scope but went significantly beyond it. The company voluntarily added value worth INR 10 lakhs outside the original contract. This included structural improvements, material upgrades, and finishing touches that weren’t part of the original specification. Mr. Shaikh made it clear that this contribution was a gesture of gratitude toward the Indian Armed Forces. “This was for the country. For the Navy. We didn’t think twice,” he said.

What’s more, the entire project was completed as per the required schedule and to the full satisfaction of the Indian Navy. The upgraded pool now meets the standards required for military fitness and aquatic training.

This milestone marks Swimwell’s entry into the defence infrastructure space and is a strong example of private-sector capability meeting national interest. It also signals the company’s evolving commitment to public sector collaborations, backed by integrity, innovation, and a long-term vision.
